Obituary of Richard A. Monaghan
Richard A. Monaghan, 72, of Toms River, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012. Rich was a U.S. Army Veteran, personal specialist during the Cuban Missile Crisis; honorably discharged in 1963. He worked for Bell Telephone Co., owner of Spark Realty, and later worked for Ocean Federal Savings and Loans.
Rich was predeceased by his father, John F. Monaghan; mother, Agnes M. Monaghan; and brother, John F. Monaghan Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan R. Monaghan; son, Richard T. Monaghan, wife Lisa Monaghan; son, John M. Monaghan, wife Wendy Monaghan; daughter, Karen A. Burr, husband Matthew T. Burr; and grandchildren: Shawn, Ryan, Brendan, Matthew, Caitlin, and Kiley. Rich is also survived by his sister Irene Faucher; his mother-in-law, Cecelia Pendorf; his sister-in-law, Dolores Patterson and her husband, Donald; his sister and brother-in-law, Erica and Bert Betz and Joseph Betz and 6 nieces and 5 nephews.
He was the cleanest, most honest man we ever knew, and he will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be from 7 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 8 p.m. a service will be held. At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, interment will be at the B/G Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
